Gus Foods
Gus Foods is changing how people eat at work. Smart fridges at office locations give employees 24/7 access to fresh, healthy and locally prepared meals. They open the fridge with an app, choose their meal, and payment happens automatically.
When Gus Foods contacted Abstractive in 2021, they had an ambitious vision: a network of smart fridges that work as mini-restaurants inside companies. The fridges ran on their own POS terminal, but without a central system behind it: inventory management, orders and invoicing lived separately from each other. With a full Odoo implementation Abstractive built the complete digital foundation on which the Gus Foods experience runs today, in close collaboration with a specialized app partner that developed the mobile application.

Diagnosis
Understand first, then build
We started with a thorough analysis. How do orders flow? How is inventory tracked? Where are the bottlenecks? That way we mapped the full picture before we built anything.
Design
The architecture drawn up
Together with Gus Foods we drew up the architecture. Which data flows where? How do we connect Odoo to the outside world? We designed a REST API based on FastAPI as the bridge between Odoo and all external systems.
Delivery
19 custom modules built
From IoT communication with the physical fridges to integrations with payment providers, from barcode scanning in the warehouse to loyalty programs. Together with a specialized app partner, each module became a piece of the puzzle in an ever more complete whole.
Growth
Strategic partner for the long term
Since 2021 the platform has kept growing: a full Odoo version upgrade, a migration from Google IoT to Azure IoT, push notifications, a module for fruit baskets and an optimization of the purchasing process. Today Abstractive is the permanent strategic partner of Gus Foods through a service agreement.
